SHOWMASTER HEART GAME (FRIDAY)

A familiar voice can be heard above you, you're not sure if they're talking to you or not but it does feel like you're part of this conversation:

"What a Wonderful Story that you have. I've read it many times when I was feeling sad. You know, I wanted to keep it in my personal collection, but it doesn't seem that's going to be possible. To grant my wish, I'd have to sacrifice what it means to be a reader ... to become the story. That's The End that I'm looking for.

...

...

...

...

I can't claim to be well-versed in how someone would go about that in reality. But if it's just a story...all you need is for the reader to believe it's true. Or, for those who are living through it, for it to feel true for them to some extent.

[taps his chin]

Legends are tied to "true names", so...perhaps severing them from their true names and giving them a new name. A sibling can grant a name, since they're family.

[She's not saying anything, she's just standing there smiling.]

[But the brother is writing notes on a notepad.]

A new name...

That should be narratively satisfying, right? I'm not exactly a writer myself, so I don't know if I have much more I can help with than that. But, as a reader, I'd enjoy that kind of happy ending. Even if the world is a little changed, so long as it's one where everyone can live happily one way or another...that's what matters.
