SHOWMASTER HEART GAME (FRIDAY)

A familiar voice can be heard above you, you're not sure if they're talking to you or not but it does feel like you're part of this conversation:

"What a Wonderful Story that you have. I've read it many times when I was feeling sad. You know, I wanted to keep it in my personal collection, but it doesn't seem that's going to be possible. To grant my wish, I'd have to sacrifice what it means to be a reader ... to become the story. That's The End that I'm looking for.

...

...

...

...

..."

Yes. I'd like to help her wherever I can. Whether I am here or not.

Do you think she'll like this story you're writing now?

I don't know. She might not like the ending.

Well, you haven't written it yet, right?

...No...

You won't know if she likes it or not until it's finished and she can read it.

Maybe that’s why there’s hesitation to finish also.

Because you're worried she won't like it?

She loves you a lot, so your words mean a lot more to her.

[ taking the book ]

[If he looks through the book, it isn't a story about an adventurer at all.

It's very clearly the story of the Showmaster and her life.

It showcases a young girl who once enjoyed a happy life in the gardens with her large family. It describes her being taken away to "receive blessings" and a lot of the pain she went through during this time. It showcases a brother who was unaware of what was happening, but would send her stories to keep her company. A brother who eventually met a Legend of Stories and received his own blessings. A brother who found out the truth of what was happening to his sister. Who punished those who were responsible. Who tried to rescue her but failed to do so. Who became part of the experiments. Became part of the ocean.

The girl who wanted to rescue said brother was stuck because the family who had any chance of answers were eradicated. The girl who had practically no family left and only had her brothers books to read. She wanted to wish that the Legends would come help but they too suddenly disappeared and no one even remembered who they were. Even the Storyteller Legend refused to grant her wishes.

She was stuck. She was stuck forever. Because she could not die. Her brother could not die. All she had were his books.]

[ had a suspicion, but. bummer. ]

I can see why you had trouble finding a way for the protagonist to rescue her.

[It's a bummerrrrr.]

Right? So I've just been kind of stuck throwing spaghetti at the wall.

She wants to save him, he wants to save her... and the party members don't have any concrete plans either...

A great power seems to be needed.

Or at least a creative mind.

If we had a little more time, I could probably figure something out. But we don't, right?

[personal profile] ticketmaster 2026-01-18 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems so.

But ... if you know the missing parts and the source, you might be able to come up with something.

[personal profile] socialcapital 2026-01-18 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The missing parts... of this story?
ticketmaster: (pic#18000680)

[personal profile] ticketmaster 2026-01-18 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure. You don't know everything, do you?

For example, the Showmaster seems to believe she has the solution. She has a goal, right?

[The brother is looking hella confused, just lots of .-.?]
socialcapital: (154)

[personal profile] socialcapital 2026-01-18 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I had assumed her goal was to revive the lost Legends to use their power to save him, right? Was that not it?

1/2

[personal profile] ticketmaster 2026-01-18 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
The protagonist is the one who often solves the problem themselves. As long as the hero is considered "the hero", they will carry that burden.

Right, Mister . . . Ash, was it?

[personal profile] ticketmaster 2026-01-18 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[He looks confused but looks between the two.]

...I suppose so. The protagonist would have to have their own powers, I think...
socialcapital: (011)

[personal profile] socialcapital 2026-01-18 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
So becoming the story is 'becoming the protagonist' maybe? Giving herself the narrative power to solve the problem?
ticketmaster: (Smile!)

[personal profile] ticketmaster 2026-01-18 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty close~

[Mr. Ash looks at the Ticketmaster with a face filled with chagrin.]

You really don't need to be so vague all of the time... I get stories need to be mysterious, but really...

[He coughs and looks at Mr. Jackson.]

[personal profile] socialcapital 2026-01-18 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, sorry, sorry. We're just brainstorming. The heroine waiting to be rescued... there's a pretty good chance she'd want to try something on her own, right? That's what we mean.
